Narrator- Way down in the shower, when humans are not looking, tiny little people called squirts are there. They are 3 in. tall and really skinny. They live in the shower and eat the soapscum. They also have webbed feet and hands for swimming, and like to play shampoo tag. IN shampoo tag you hide behind shampoo bottles and run around the edge of the bathtub trying not to get tagged by the person who is the tagger.
One afternoon, a group of squirts were playing shampoo tag around a tub full of water.
Sara- I got you. Now that means you’re it.
Steven- Well, I’m going to get you back
Narrator- Sara Suave, her brother, Steven Pantene, and his sister Marie, played shampoo tag for practically the whole day. They hid behind shampoo bottles and weaved in and out of them as they were having the time of their life. When their parents arrived home in their soap bars, they were astonished that the squirts were still playing.
Mrs. Pantene-You all are still playing? I think it’s time for you to stop and come eat your soapscum.
Mr. Suave- Yes. I think it’s definitely time to stop.
All of the Squirts- Can we just have a little more time, Please!
Mr. Suave- I suppose just a little more time if you all can play nicely together.
Narrator- As the parents went back to their own soap bars, the kids began to play tag again. Shortly after they started, an argument between Sara and Steven, soon broke out. They began to shove each other and call each other names.
Cole-Hey cut that out!
Narrator-As Cole ran back to get help, Steven’s leg were growing tiresome. He tried to pull himself up the side of the bathtub, but the side was too steep for him to climb. And then something happened. Steven had realized that when he fell into the tub, he had knocked the plug out and he was now in danger of the big, bad drain,that a magical god would appear. No squirt has ever seen this superstition carried out, yet every squirt believed in it. Then out of nowhere, a swirling wind of shiny and sparkling dust arose as Mrs. Pantene and Cole arrived. They waited impatiently in amazement for something to come of this wind. But just then, someone stepped out from this wind of dust. It was a man with a blue jumpsuit and a red hat. On the jumpsuit was a name tag that read " Ed", and the word "Plumber" written across the hat. This so called god also had a red tool box with him. He set the box down, opened it, and pulled out a small bag of dust. He took the bag threw it up in the air over Steven. Within a blink of an eye, this magical dust picked Steven up out of the water and set him on the edge of the bathtub.
Mrs. Pantene- How can we ever repay you?
Ed- There is no need to repay me , Mrs. Pantene. This is what I do.
Narrator-Ed sat on the edge of the bathtub wondering how he could prevent this from ever happening again. As he sat there thinking long and hard, something popped into his head. What if there was a lever that you could pull to stop the drain, and push to make it go? And the lever is exactly what he installed. He put it on the side of the tub in the front so the squirts could get to it easily without trouble. Soon the idea broke out and other squirts saw how this invention could save their life if they were ever in danger. Then the next thing the squirts knew, every bathtub had one, and the squirts in shower valley could live much better knowing they would be saved by Ed’s invention. So now the next time you’re in the bathtub and you see the lever you’ll know how and why it’s there.
