Grading Rubric for Folklore
3 (92-100%)
- Contains an interesting introduction that
grabs the readers attention
- Creatively employs the elements of the
type of Folklore it is(Ex.
A folktale should include all or some of the following: ordinary
people or animals, a life lesson, enchantment, a trickster, simple
language)
- Entire story contains details that allow
the reader to see how it fits that groups culture
- Uses vivid language throughout to create
pictures & feelings for the reader
- States ideas clearly and elaborates on
them in detail
- Has an effective conclusion that leaves
the reader feeling satisfied
- Contains no more than two errors in grammar,
usage, punctuation & spelling
2 (80-91%)
- Contains a general introduction, but does
not grab the readers attention
- Writer attempts to include some of the
elements for his or her Folklore, but does so in an unclear manner
(Ex. Chooses to write a myth,
but never quite explains the origin of some natural occurrence)
- Story contains some details that indicate
how it fits that groups culture
- Uses vivid details in some places, but
not throughout
- Uses some elaboration, but further details
would improve the tales clarity
- Has a conclusion that may or may not leave
the reading feeling statisfied
- Contains many errors (2-5) in grammar,
usage, punctuation & spelling
3 (65-79%)
- Lacks an introduction leaving the reader
confused
- Writer does not attempt to incorporate
the elements of its type of Folklore
- Story may or may not show how it relates
to the groups culture
- Lacks vivid language & elaboration
creating a story that is unclear
- Conclusion may be present or story just
stops
- Contains numerous errors (more than 5)
in punctuation, usage, punctuation & spelling
