Nature Center Discoveries

The students of Mrs. Keith's fifth grade class have used their digitized camera to locate living things in an ecosystem. Study the pictures. The students will then research and write reports.

Wild animals leave clues everywhere they go. They dig underground tunnels or make footprints in the mud and snow.

This track looks like a cat's paw or perhaps a raccoon. What animal do you think left this print?

Information for Educators

To request a FREE Animal Tracks Workshop...

National Wildlife Federation and Wal-Mart have teamed up to provide local schools with a way to learn more about nature and wildlife. Your teachers are eligible to participate in a special teacher training program.

The National Wildlife Federation's Animal Tracks teacher training program offers teacher workshops, classroom materials, and Internet programs geared for elementary and middle school ages.

The Animal Tracks educator workshops train teachers on how to use Animal Tracks environmental units in the classroom. We provide a 6-hour workshop for a school system. Teachers will be introduced to important environmental issues and will learn hands-on activities to teach these topics in the classroom. All participants receive a copy of an Animal Tracks Action Pack — a ready-to-use environmental curriculum unit. The workshop will culminate in the development of environmental action projects and participants will receive classroom materials.

The Animal Tracks training workshops focus on specific issues and guides teachers who are interested in integrating conservation topics into the curriculum. Currently available topics are:
Habitat for grades K-3 and 4-6
Wetlands for grades 4-6
Endangered Species for grades 6-8
Thanks to Wal-Mart's support, Animal Tracks is offering 120 workshops and materials at NO COST to schools, teachers and participants across the country.
