Animals and their Habitats

 

GRADES:1-3

OBJECTIVES: To list and describe all of the following habitats:

Temporate Forest
Tropical Rainforest
Savana
Desert
Artic regions
To match 3 animals to each habitat when given a list of habitats and a list of animals.

MATERIALS:

Library books dealing with animals.
Art materials such as paper, markers, crayon, paint ect.


PROCEDURE:

The students will be asked to select and animal.
Then they will complete a biography of that animal including the following: Where it lives, what it eats, what are some pysical charactetistics of the animal.
Then they will complete a description of the habitat including the following: What is the climate like; i.e. hot, cold, wet, dry, What countries have this type of habitat.
The students will, then create a picture of their animal.
Finally the students will create a display of their animal biographies and pictures.

ASSESSMENT:
The students will tour each other's displays and then be given a short quiz on the habitats and the animals that live in each.
