Students!!

Have fun with light and sound!

2)Walk through the house and observe the lights. Notice the different coverings that are used the shield the bright light from your eyes. The covering also diffuses the light making the light softer and causing it to disperse more evenly than just a normal lighting situation.

1)You and a partner use a flashlight and go outside in the darkness of the night. Take turns shining the light upon different objects and observe which ones make clear or distinct shadows. Find some that create shadows that are blurry.

3) Next use the flashlight again with a partner and create shadows. This time try to make shadows as short or long as possible by changing the position of the light. Of course your height will have a lot to do with the variables.

4)Obtain different colors of cellophane wrap and cover the lens of the flashlight. Observe the effect of shining different colors upon objects either in a dark house or outside. Take note of the difference when using colored light and white light. See what colors are reflected to your sight. Record the information so that you can share it in class.
