Follow these steps when performing an experiment:
I. State the Problem:
II. Research
If needed, use a separate sheet of paper for greater detail.
III. Hypothesis
IV. Step by Step Procedure
Materials:
petri dish
room temperature whole milk
4 colors of food coloring
liquid dish soap
dropper
beakerProcedure:
1. Use the beaker to carry the whole milk to the laboratory area.
2. Fill the petri dish 1/2 full of milk. Do not disturb the milk during this experiment.
3. Very carefully put 2 drops of each color of food coloring on opposite areas of the petri dish. see diagram.
4. Put 2 drops of liquid dish soap into the center of the petri dish of milk. Make sure that the dropper does not touch the milk.
5. Observe the petri dish for 1-3 minutes.
6. Write down what was observed.Observations:
Conclusion:
What were the variables in the experiment?
Refer back to the hypothesis.
What happened?
If you could change one thing (variable) and do the experiment again, what would you change?
