First convert 1 and 1/4 to an improper fraction. Multiply the denominator 4 times the whole number 1 and add the numerator 1 and put over the denominator 4. Thus 1 and 1/4 equals 5/4. Then convert 1 and 1/3 to an improper fraction using the same method. 1 and 1/3 equals 4/3.

The 4 of the first denominator can be cancelled with the 4 of the second numerator. They will both be changed to 1.

The final answer will be 1 and 2/3 after you have changed your improper fraction to a mixed number by dividing the numerator and denominatior.
